Pick Screen Studio if
- The app exists and works, and the video is your real UI moving
- You want 30 to 90 seconds with automatic zooms and a smooth cursor
- You are on a Mac and will make videos every month, so the subscription earns its keep
- You need App Store preview footage. Record the real app, then check the export against Apple's sizes
Pick MEGA Pudu if
- There is nothing to record yet
- You want a 12-second vertical for Reels, TikTok or Shorts, not a walkthrough
- You want to test four hooks on the same footage before you spend on a shoot
- You do not want another subscription. One free video, then credits that do not expire
Where each one loses
Screen Studio cannot make a video of an app that does not exist, and it cannot invent the world footage that makes a social clip stop the scroll. MEGA Pudu cannot record your real flow frame by frame, and it will never give you a 60-second walkthrough. Plenty of teams want both: MEGA Pudu for the social clip and the pre-launch test, Screen Studio for the launch post once the build is solid.

Is Screen Studio still a one-time purchase?
No. Screen Studio's own FAQ now addresses people who bought a one-time licence in the past, and the plans on offer are monthly or yearly. The yearly plan works out to $9 a month, $108 a year.
Does Screen Studio work on Windows?
Not at the time of checking. The site lists macOS Ventura 13.1 and later, and the Windows version is still listed as not ready. MEGA Pudu runs in the browser on anything.
Can MEGA Pudu record my screen?
No. It takes up to six screenshots, or draws the screens from your description, and cuts through them with motion. If you need the real flow recorded, use a recorder.
Which is cheaper?
For one or two videos, MEGA Pudu: the first is free and $9 buys about 12 more. For a video every week, Screen Studio's $108 a year is unlimited recordings and the per-video cost falls toward zero, as long as you do the recording and editing.
Can I use a Screen Studio recording in MEGA Pudu?
Not as video. Export still frames from it and upload those as screenshots. The reel cuts through them the same way it cuts through any screens.
Which is better for the App Store?
Screen Studio, because Apple requires captured footage of the real app. Check the export against Apple's sizes, 886 x 1920 for current iPhones. MEGA Pudu output is for social, ads and landing pages. Why.
