Can I make an app walkthrough video?
A short one. The Screen shape spends most of the 12 seconds on five app screens with one tap. That is a tour, not a walkthrough. It shows the app is real and what it looks like. It will not record your actual flow or run past 12 seconds. For a 30 to 90 second narrated walkthrough, use a screen recorder.
How it is built
| Shape | Opens on | Caption lines | App screens | Hook styles |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Screen | A short hook, then straight to the app | None | 5 | Claim |
You get
- Five screens, your screenshots or generated
- One tap early on, so it reads as a working app
- Motion on every screen: push, zoom, cut
- A short hook card and the name at the end
You don't get
- A real-time recording of your flow
- Narration, or a cursor of your own
- Anything longer than 12 seconds
Ledger, a budgeting app. Screen format. Screenshots attached. Show the dashboard, adding an expense, the monthly chart, categories, settings.

Questions people ask
Is a 12-second tour enough?
For a feed, yes. On Reels, Shorts and TikTok the job is to show the app exists and looks good before the swipe. For onboarding, docs or a launch post where people expect the real flow, record the real flow.
What should I use for a long walkthrough?
Screen Studio on a Mac is the benchmark for a 30 to 90 second recording with automatic zooms. SmoothCapture is $99 once. Both need a working app. See best app promo video makers.
Can I upload a screen recording?
No. Uploads are still images, up to six. Export frames from your recording and upload those.
